Design Thinking in Context

Who is the designer?

Design is quickly becoming one of the most widely used terms such as “innovation”. This term has different meanings for different people. But in simple terms, design is a way to change the way we look at the world and provide opportunities to make it better.

Design is a process as well as a problem-solving approach that can be considered as a set of practical procedures for creating new and sustainable value.

A designer is a person who tries to come up with a solution and includes people who are looking for a solution. Being a designer is not limited to providing graphic outputs or designing a user experience.

What is the difference between “designing” and “drawing”?

The word “design” has different and sometimes contradictory meanings and is used in almost all academic specialties, including art, engineering, business, humanities and even medicine. Meanwhile, in academic circles, which may rightly consider themselves the main harbinger of “design”, this term is used interchangeably with two words.

What is design thinking?

Design thinking is a non-linear, iterative process that teams use to understand users, challenge existing assumptions, redefine the problem, and create innovative solution to prototype and test.

Design thinking is a philosophy and a set of tools that help innovate or solve a problem. Design thinking is applicable in any field and in any organization involved in problem solving. In designing a new product or service or improving their application and even in facing various social, business and personal problems, the design thinking perspective can be used.
